Frequently Asked Questions About

Study Partners

  • A Study Partner is someone who knows the participant well enough to answer questions about their brain health and ability to perform day-to-day activities. For example, they could be a friend, caregiver, family member or spouse. They do not have to live with the participant.

Our Study Partner initiative allows the participant to identify and invite a Study Partner to join the HITSS-BHR Study Partner Portal. Study Partners log into the website to answer questions about the participant and some questions about themselves.

Having the pair participate in HITSS together can help us gain a more complete understanding of brain health, including information about day-to-day functioning and quality of life.

  • If you are invited to be a Study Partner, you are not obligated to do so. If you do agree, that would be great as it will provide more insight into the day-to-day life and functioning of the participant.

Your decision to decline the Study Partner invitation will not have a negative impact on the participant.

  • Study Partners are required to be 18 years of age or older and are not required to have experience playing soccer or tackle football.

  • If you are at least 40 years old and have ever played soccer or tackle football at any level you are eligible to participate.

In order to register as a participant, you will have to enroll on HITSS.org by clicking “Enroll Now” in the top right hand corner of your screen.
